Want to become more involved at McGowen? Have skills you would like to share? Come be part of our 2023-2024 PTA Board for next school year!

No previous experience is necessary, just the desire to make a difference!

Requirements for all Board Members:

  • Must complete and pass an annual MISD volunteer background check.

  • Must attend all Executive and General PTA meetings.

  • Must be available to attend and volunteer at McGowen PTA events. You should be willing to be available to support other Board Members as a team at PTA functions where needed.

  • Complete all necessary training for position.

Steps to be Nominated…

Want to know the process of becoming an Executive Board member? Please see the steps listed below:

  • The current Executive Board will recruit the best possible Nominating committee to be overseen by the Parliamentarian. All members will sign a confidentially agreement

  • Members will consider only candidates who meet eligibility requirements set forth by the bylaws and who have signified their consent to serve if elected.

  • By majority vote of committee members present and voting, they will submit only one name for each position to be filled.

  • The nominating committee shall prepare a written report, signed by all committee members who agree with the report. The report shall be published through regular publicity channels at least seven days before the election meeting and read at the election meeting. The nominating committee shall dissolve upon completion of the report.

  • Officers shall be elected by ballot at the election meeting. If there is only one nominee for an office, election for that position may be by acclamation.

When would I Start?

Our PTA calendar runs from July 1 through June 30th. PTA board members hold their position for the duration of this term.

You will work with the previous Board Member to learn your position before taking over. They will provide you with a book of information , as well as access to the PTA Google Drive.
