No previous experience is necessary, just the desire to make a difference!
Requirements for all Board Members:
Must complete and pass an annual MISD volunteer background check.
Must attend all Executive (monthly) and General PTA (three annually) meetings.
Must be available to attend and volunteer at McGowen PTA events.
Willing to support other Board Members as needed.
Complete all necessary training for position.

You do not have to have prior PTA experience — just a willingness to care, collaborate, and be part of something meaningful. If you’ve ever considered getting involved, this is a wonderful time to step in. We would love to welcome you to the team!
Our PTA calendar runs from July 1 through June 30th. PTA board members hold their position for the duration of this term. Elections will be held at our General Meeting on March 12th prior to the Math Night Event.
You will work with the previous Board Member to learn your position before taking over. They will provide you with a book of information , as well as access to the PTA Google Drive.

Serving on the McGowen PTA board is truly a joy. It’s laughter during event prep, friendships you didn’t expect to make, and the incredible feeling of knowing you are helping support every Maverick student and teacher.
